New A24 film Under the Silver Lake finally hits Czech cinemas this week after a successful festival run.
Under the Silver Lake is a wonderful and whimsical journey through the darker side of L.A. and the Hollywood dream. In the vein of David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive, but with a wicked sense of humour and a lovable young scruff at its centre.
New thriller Under the Silver Lake will screen at Prague’s Be2Can Film Festival this October along with a host of other award-winning contemporary films from leading European film festivals Cannes, Berlinale and Venice.
The trailer for director Martin Scorsese’s epic that has been in the pipeline for 28 years has finally dropped! The December release date also puts this film as a last minute Oscar contender. Starring Andrew Garfield, Adam Driver and Liam Neeson, this looks massive. Garfield is certainly doing well for himself lately, with another leading role in Hacksaw Ridge, the ultra-violent Mel Gibson war epic that is also very Christian. There’s only one plausible explanation for this. Andrew Garfield is secretly Jesus?
There is little about Hacksaw Ridge that I thought was decent. It was brutally violent, cheesy and smothered in Christian metaphors and symbolism. Basically, it was a textbook Mel Gibson movie. You need to calm the f-ck down, Mel.. Put down your bible and let’s talk this through.
