Scarlett Johansson is on board for the new WWII satire Jojo Rabbit directed by Taika Waititi.
Based on the book ‘Caging Skies’ by Belgian/New Zealand author Christine Leunens, the film is set in World War II and focuses on a German boy who discovers that his mother (Johansson) is hiding a Jewish girl in their Berlin home.
This will be the native Kiwi director’s next big film project after last year’s colourfukl addition to the Marvel universe, Thor: Ragnarok. Waititi has also been busy with final touches to the What We Do in the Shadows pilot, a series based on the 2014 film.
The director was recently in Prague overseeing preparations and casting. Filming is set to begin late May in both the Czech Republic and Germany.
