To celebrate its landmark 20th anniversary, Prague’s Mezipatra Queer Film Festival kicked off this summer with their new LGBTQ film distribution label Queer Kino.
Among the distributor’s first titles is French director Camille Vidal-Naquet’s feature debut Sauvage, which tells the story of 22-year-old male escort ‘Leo’ (Félix Maritaud) and his struggle to find freedom through escapades that are often confined to subjects of taboo. The film premiered in the Critics’ Week section at Cannes last year, and has since met with worldwide success at over 30 film festivals including last year’s Mezipatra. Sauvage will have an English friendly screening on September 19th at 18:30 in Kino Pilotů.
ALSO coming to Czech cinemas thanks to Queer Kino, is the much anticipated new feature film from French-Canadian director Xavier Dolan. Matthias et Maxime sees two friends and their social lives dramatically change after a childhood kiss in a student short film. The film will premiere at this year’s Mezipatra QFF in November.
