The poignant first trailer for new Czech film Milada has arrived. The film is a biopic based on the life of Czech freedom fighter and hero Milada Horáková.
Horáková was in politics with the Czechoslovak National Socialist Party who fought hard against the Nazi occupation. Despite her time spent in concentration camps and prison, she continued to fight for the freedom of Czechoslovakia through both the Nazi and Communist regimes, until she was eventually executed in 1950.
Milada will be the directorial debut of Czech native David Mrnka who has previously produced popular news programmes in both Australia and the US, including CNN and the BBC. Mrnka hopes to make an international impact with the English language biopic and has been working on the project for the last 10 years with the help of Horáková’s daughter, Jana Kánská. Check out the teaser trailer below.
The film has an impressive international cast including Israeli actress Ayelet Zurer (Man of Steel) as Milada Horáková, American actor Robert Gant (13 Reasons Why) as her husband Bohuslav, and a supporting Czech and Slovak cast including the talented Aňa Geislerová.
Milada premieres October 31 and will be in cinemas nationally from November 2. The biopic will also be available to stream on Netflix in the near future.
