The first trailer for Last Flag Flying shows Richard Linklater taking on an ambitious follow-up to a Vietnam War classic.
Last Flag Flying sees director Linklater (Boyhood, Everybody Wants Some) adapt the 2005 novel by Darryl Poniscan, a sequel to his novel ‘The Last Detail’, which was made into the classic Jack Nicholson film in 1973. The director has been planning the follow-up since 2006 and had hoped to use the original cast, which also included Randy Quaid and Otis Young, but plans unfortunately fell through.
Now starring Bryan Cranston, Steve Carell and Lawrence Fishburne, the dramedy sees the three friends, who served together in the Vietnam War back in The Last Detail, take a road trip across the U.S. to bury a loved one. Check out the trailer below.
Last Flag Standing hits select cinemas later this year.
