First They Killed My Father trailer – Angelina Jolie’s Cambodia feature

The first harrowing trailer for Angelina Jolie’s First They Killed My Father is a powerful and personal look at the much anticipated historical feature on Cambodia’s turbulent past.

Based on the memoir by Cambodian author and close friend of Jolie’s, Loung Ung, First They Killed My Father sees the harsh brutality around the Khmer Rouge genocide in the country through the eyes of a young Loung. Check out the trailer below.

This is not the first film in her career to tackle historical drama, Jolie also took on WWII in Unbroken, and the Bosnian war with In the Land of Blood and Honey. The actor / director stated that the film was also made for her adopted son Maddox, who was born in Cambodia.

First They Killed My Father will premiere at Toronto International Film Festival this year and will be available to stream on Netflix from September 15.
