Check out the teaser for HBO’s much-anticipated Watchmen series. It looks like fans of Alan Moore’s graphic novel may be in for something a little different this time round.
The original Watchmen, and Zack Snyder’s 2009 film, saw a group of vigilante superheroes in an alternate New York City join arms to fight an oppressive government during the Cold War.
Damon Lindelof (The Leftovers), has already said that his version for HBO would be different and may even disappoint some hardcore fans.
Starring Oscar winner Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Hong Chau and Tim Blake Nelson, Lindelof’s adaptation, although referencing characters like The Comedian and Ozymandias, and obviously a whole lot of Rorschach, is not a direct sequel, but IS still set after the events of the original… I’m as confused as you are by that.
Also, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross (The Social Network, Gone Girl) are behind the soundtrack to the series, which is going to make a lot of people happy, including myself!
Watchmen will hit HBO October 20.
