Director Richard Linklater (Boyhood, Before Sunrise) will attend the 53rd Karlovy Vary International Film Festival this year to participate in a special section dedicated to the Austin Film Society.
The Czech film festival will honour the work of the prominent film society which has given over $2 million in grants to support young American filmmakers including rising star David Lowery (A Ghost Story, Pete’s Dragon).
The self-taught director will participate in the festival’s ‘Made in Texas’ section which will screen films of both old and new to honour the American state and the Austin Film Society.
Among the nine films screening will be Linklater’s first feature Slacker as well as Robert Rodriguez’ iconic contemporary western El Mariachi, Jeff Nichols’ psychological thriller Take Shelter, and the classic Last Night at the Alamo by Eagle Pennell.
