Queer supernatural thriller Thelma will premiere in Prague’s Kino Pilotů on Monday the 4th of December. The premiere will be the only English friendly screening for the foreseeable future.
Directed by Joachim Trier, this unconventional coming-of-age tale sees new university student Thelma (Eili Harboe) fall in love with fellow student Anja (Okay Kaja). Her overwhelming feelings for the girl are soon accompanied by supernatural abilities that develop way beyond her control.
Now Norway’s Oscar entry for next year, Thelma playfully reinvents the genre film. ‘A new take on body horror,’ says director Joachim Trier.
The film turned a lot of heads on the summer festival circuit this year and was also an Official Selection at the Mezipatra Queer Film Festival a few weeks ago.
Thelma will premiere on Monday the 4th of December at 19:30 in Kino Pilotů and will then screen nationwide through Aerofilms.
