In response to the growing Czech film industry, Prague Studios celebrated the construction of two new sound stages yesterday .
The film studios, based in Letňany, commemorated the occasion in a foundation stone ceremony with Czech actor Marek Vašut, who has starred in a number of big budget productions there over the years, including Blade II and Van Helsing.
The construction of the two new stages is a massive 140 million CZK project and also includes the modernisation of existing stages.
New film incentives encouraging larger international projects are the main reason for the expansion. “Czech Republic has returned to the world map of film,” said managing director and owner of Prague Studios Tomáš Krejčí.
