Prague based film Ice Mother (Bába z ledu) will be the Czech Republic’s entry for Best Foreign Film at next year’s Oscars.
Directed by Bohdan Sláma (Country Teacher) and starring Zuzana Kronerova and Pavel Nový, Ice Mother sees modest family woman Hana (Kronerova) rediscover love with winter swimmer Brona (Nový) after the death of her husband.
The film won Best Screenplay for an International Narrative Feature at the prestigious New York Tribeca Film Festival, and Sláma film regular Zuzana Kronerova won a Best Actress award at the Sakhalin International Film Festival.
