Cannes, as usual, has an impressive line-up of exciting films this year including the latest from Austrian director Michael Haneke, Happy End. Could this film win the auteur his third Palm d’ Or in a row?
Little is known about the drama so far, but we do know that it’s based in the French city of Calais about a bourgeois family. Being set in Calais there will no doubt be some contrast with the refugee crisis. I also have no doubt that the ending will be anything but happy.
This is the fourth time Oscar-nominated actress Isabelle Huppert and Michael Haneke have worked together after The Piano Teacher, Time of the Wolf and Amour.

Also starring Toby Jones, Jean-Louis Trintignant and Mathieu Kassovitz, Happy End will premiere at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival which will take place from 17 – 28 May.
