Every now and then you see a teaser or trailer that gives you proper chills and that was more than true for the Dunkirk teaser that dropped some time ago. Hearing the impending doom of warplanes flying overhead will do that I suppose. Finally we’ve been treated to the first full length trailer of Dunkirk, the first war movie since 1958 to focus specifically on the “miracle of little ships” when over 300 000 allied soldiers were evacuated from Dunkirk Harbour in Northern France during World War II.
This is director Christopher Nolan’s first film since 2014’s Interstellar, and it looks as if he’s going for a realistic and brutal Saving Private Ryan type feel. Just as long as it’s nothing like Mel Gibson’s uber Christian and bloody Hacksaw Ridge. Cast includes Nolan regular Tom Hardy, Mark Rylance, Kenneth Branagh and Harry Styles? Wait, what?!
In select cinemas worldwide from July 21, 2017.
