Hereditary, the horror movie that’s been turning a lot of heads this festival season, is coming to Czech cinemas this summer… and has been dubbed by Time Out New York critic Joshua Rothkopf as ‘this generation’s The Exorcist‘.
Written and directed by Ari Aster and from the producers of The Witch, Hereditary focuses on a family tragedy and the dark (and supernatural) ancestral secrets that unfold shortly after. Featuring a career best performance from Toni Collette (The Sixth Sense), and also starring Gabriel Byrne (The Usual Suspects), Alex Wolff (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle), Anne Dowd (The Leftovers) and the fresh-faced Milly Shapiro as ‘Charlie’. Check out the trailer. It’s a whole new level of creepy.
From A24 films, the people behind The Witch and last year’s uber creepy It Comes At Night, Hereditary looks like it’ll also push the boundaries of modern horror, and might even get some attention this award season. I’m really excited about this one, and you should be too!
Planet Dark will present an advanced screening of Hereditary on June 28 in Kino Pilotu. The film will officially hit Czech cinemas July 19 through Vertical Entertainment.
