Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Dune’ gets its first trailer

Denis Villenueve’s Dune is one of the most anticipated science fiction blockbusters of the decade, and the first trailer has finally dropped.

Based on the iconic best-selling novel by Frank Herbert, Dune tells the story of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet), a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence-a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential-only those who can conquer their fear will survive – Written by Warner Bros.

Dune also stars Rebecca Ferguson as ‘Lady Jessica’, Jason Momoa as ‘Duncan Idaho’, Josh Brolin as ‘Gurney Halleck’, David Dastmalchian as ‘Piter de Vries’, Dave Bautista as ‘Glossu “Beast” Rabban’, Oscar Isaac as ‘Duke Leto Atreides’, Stellan Skarsgård as ‘Baron Vladimir Harkonnen’, Javier Bardem as ‘Stilgar’ and Charlotte Rampling as ‘Gaius Helen Mohiam’.

This isn’t the first adaptation of the film however. David Lynch’s popular but widely-criticised 1984 version of Dune is available to watch on Netflix CZ. In addition to that, there was also a fairly well-received mini-series made in 2000 starring William Hurt.

Considering the critical praise for Villeneuve’s recent Blade Runner: 2049, it would be an understatement to say that people have high expectations for this Dune outing.
